Shrove Tuesday : Llanrwst #pancake

It's Shrove Tuesday so if you are Shopping in Llanrwst today remember to buy the ingredients to make Pancake.

We asked two of Llanrwst's residents how they made their perfect Pancake.
These are their recipes:

Elwyn's Pancake, Caffi Contessa
15oz of flour
5 eggs
5oz of sugar
Pinch of salt
15ml of milk
10ml of water

Mix and cook the usual way.

(This mix is great for Yorkshire Puddings if you omit the sugar)

On the pancake:
Strawberry Jam and Ice Cream
Sugar and Lemon Juice
Banana, Nutella and Ice Cream
Orange and Grand Marnier

Caffi Contessa will be serving Pancakes throughout Shrove Tuesday.

Nelson's Pancake, Lle Hari
Some self raising flour
2 eggs
Tablespoon of vegetable oil
Add milk until it's runny
(add more milk to make thin crepes)
Mix and cook the usual way.

On the pancake:
Warm Maple syrup with Peanut Butter

And this is how to throw a Pancake:

Coffee of the Month

The recent blend of coffee in Caffi Contessa must have been good, they ran out before the end of the month.
So this months Coffee is now Brazil Bruzzi.

Origin: Central Brazil (NW of Rio De Janeiro)

Process: Washed (Coffee is soaked in water before being depulped).

Tasting Notes: Smooth, with notes of almond and cherry, and a sweet, velvety finish.

About the Farm: Crops are grown at about 3,800 ft, and this high altitude creates a bean that is unusually dense and sweet, with a clean, pleasant acidity.

Coffee of the Month - Caffi Contessa

This months coffee is Roma.

A lovely coffee, that's not too strong and goes nice with the cake of the day.

Coffee

The coffee of the month in Caffi Contessa this month is Santa Clara from Guatemala
It's a nice coffee that's not too strong

The coffee is cultivated between three volcanoes in the Antigua Valley.

Farm: Santa Clara (Antigua)
Varietal: Bourbon, Caturra
Processing: Fully Washed and dried on patio
Altitude: 1,600-1,830 metres
Owner: Zelaya family
City: Antigua
Region: Antigua Valley

The coffee goes very well with either the delicious choclate cake or carrot cake that is baked in house.
